Once again it was a battle between U S Charmeleon and Machthemoment in the Sunday's $790 Preferred feature at St. John's Racing & Entertainment Centre and this time out it was U S Charmeleon who had the edge on his main rival

.

After leaving from post position three, U S Charmeleon and trainer-driver Kevin McDonald carved out fractions of :29.2, 1:00.1 and 1:30.1 and held off the pocket-pulling Machthemoment (Rod Forward) to prevail by a mere nose in 2:00.4. Muzzysenglishbaby (Shane Forward) finished three lengths behind with trotter Abs Yankees Rail (Scott MacRoberts) rounding out the short field.

U S Charmeleon paid $6.50 to win. McDonald also co-owns the five-year-old gelded son of High On Emotion-Rapidash Mor, who has won four times in 16 starts this year. Amy McDonald of Goulds, Nfld. shares ownership.

Scott Forward scored a training triple during the eight-race card with his pupils Dusty Lane Mickey, Cappuccino Dawn and Even Winds Obey.
