‘Dutch’ Strong On The Front At Clinton

Dutch Seelster ($7.30) was sent off as the 2-1 second choice for the $5,000 Preferred 2 Pace on Sunday (August 13) at Clinton Raceway. The six-year-old son of Artiscape raced large for driver Ryan Holliday and trainer Kris Haskell and recorded a half-length win in 1:56.3.

Dutch Seelster lined up in Post 4 and was fastest off the switch. The bay crossed over and clicked off the opening quarter in 29 seconds.

Dutch Seelster faced a test in the second quarter, as Brodys Scrapper (driven by Tyler Moore) had come calling from third and had poked a nose in front at the :58.1 half-mile pole.

Dutch Seelster was up for the fight, though. He rebuffed the challenge from Brodys Scrapper in the third quarter and was first to the three-quarters pole in 1:27.

Dutch Seelster refused to give up the lead in the lane, as he went on to post a half-length victory for co-owners Kris Haskell, Tanner Glanville and Kenneth Colquhoun of Clinton, Ont., who own along with Ben Rathwell of Brucefield, Ont.
