This Saturday, July 8, Doug McNair, the winner of Standardbred Canada’s 2022 National Driving Championship and Canada’s representative in the 2023 World Driving Championship (WDC), will be presented with his Canadian colours and driving helmet at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Standardbred Canada’s Chair, Joanne Colville, and President and CEO, Dan Gall, will make the presentation trackside following the first race on the evening’s card. The harness racing card starts at 7 p.m. EDT.

Prior to the start of the races on July 8, McNair will be on hand to meet and greet racing fans from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the grandstand. Racing fans are invited to stop by the Standardbred Canada booth to sign a good luck banner and have photos taken with the WDC rep!

McNair, Canada’s Driver of the Year in 2017, a winner of 4,356 races and more than $77.5 million in purse earnings to date in his career, will be one of 10 drivers competing for the 2023 WDC title from Aug. 13-18. The drivers will compete in The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

McNair posted a strong fourth-place finish in the 2019 WDC hosted in Sweden and is one of the leading contenders in the 2023 event.

Ten drivers from around the world will compete in 20 races at four different racetracks in three countries for the 2023 World Driving Championship title. The WDC kicks off on Sunday, Aug. 13 at Wolvega in The Netherlands and finishes with the fourth and final leg on Friday, Aug. 18 in Berlin, Germany.
