Working off Equibase numbers, The Thoroughbred Times has reported that thoroughbred wagering numbers in North America took a huge hit in the month of June compared to the same period in 2008
.
In 2008, total June wagering on the runners rang in at $1,195,562,620. June of '09 produced a handle of $993,578,873, down a significant 16.9 per cent.
Through six months ended June 30, total handle is down 10.5 per cent to $6,503,994,769, compared with $7,265,400,239 through the first six months of 2008.
