Town Pro Pacing Series favourite Major Dancer delivered on her pari-mutuel promise in the $49,200 final featured on Friday night at Mohawk Racetrack.

The series, spanning three weeks, was for three-year-old pacing fillies that are non-winners of $30,000 lifetime as of March 31.

Driven by Chris Christoforou, Major Dancer settled away fifth early on before taking a first over journey to victory lane.

Firing from the outside post nine, 120-1 longshot Mystique Beachbum (Billy Davis Jr.) established the early lead into a :26.3 opening quarter. As she continued to lead the field past the half in :55, Major Dancer moved underway with second choice Palm Beach Hanover (Jody Jamieson) following her cover. Major Dancer swept up alongside the leading longshot approaching the 1:23 three-quarters mark and drew away down the stretch for the three length victory in a career-best clocking of 1:51.2. Palm Beach Hanover came in second with Happily Ever After (James MacDonald) rounding out the top three finishers off a pocket trip.

Casie Coleman trains the winning Art Major-Two Steppin Sally filly and shares ownership as part of the West Wins Stable, along with Mac Nichol of Burlington, Ont. and Adriano Sorella of Milton, Ont.

After competing in the Fan Hanover, Major Dancer was the bettors' choice in each leg of the Town Pro. She won her first round division on June 20 and was a close runner-up in the June 27 second leg. Sent postward as the 4-5 favourite in the final, she paid $3.20 to win.

Purchased for $47,000 as a yearling at the Harrisburg Sale, the bay filly now has six wins and four seconds in 11 career starts with earnings climbing over $93,000.

Major Dancer is expected to head stateside after this weekend to compete next in the New York Sire Stakes.
