Lucan Hanover was perfect in the preliminary legs of this year’s Summertime Pacing Series at Mohawk Racetrack, and it was more of the same for the Casie Coleman trainee in Monday’s final.

With Scott Zeron at the lines, Lucan Hanover got away fifth while Ahdoughnolum blasted to the top from Post 10 and carved out an opening quarter clocked in :26.3. Zeron right lined his charge in the backstretch and in a matter of strides the 1-9 favourite muscled to the top and proceeded to step the field through middle panels of :55.2 and 1:23. He used a :27.4 closing quarter to win by 3-1/2 lengths over a hard-closing Manchester in 1:50.4. Avatartist was a well beaten third.

“I didn’t want to gun him to the front. I kind of wanted to take my time with him,” said Scott Zeron said following the win. “I made the choice to power move him because the pace was slow and he can make that move and he carried his speed right to the wire. He started of at The Meadowlands this year and Casie [Coleman] wanted to bring him up here and braven him up and he’s done that”

West Wins Stable of Cambridge and Christine Calhoun of Chatham, ON share ownership on the son of Western Ideal-Lauren Order, who will ship stateside tomorrow in preparation for his next assignment – Saturday’s Anthony Abbatiello New Jersey Classic at The Meadowlands. The victory was his fifth of the season from nine trips postward and the $23,500 payday bumped his lifetime earnings to $94,820.
