Coca Jo regrouped from a miscue behind the starting gate and wore down the front-striding Delcrest Holly to win by half a length on Saturday night (July 2) in the $6,000 first leg of another Alliance Series hosted by Georgian Downs.

Scott Young got the favoured trotting mare back on track to score the career-best 1:59.3 victory for trainer/owner Duncan Brewer. Coca Jo, who won an Alliance Spring Series Final on May 29 at Flamboro Downs, paid $3.50 to kick off this summer series. Runner-up Delcrest Holly was followed under the wire by Next Kash.

This Alliance Summer Series is for trotters that are non-winners of $30,000 (fillies and mares $37,500) as a June 1 racing with a $12,000 claiming tag. The second leg will be held next Saturday, July 9, followed by the $12,000 (added) final on Saturday, July 16.
