Gibson Sweeps Mid Summer Elims

Trainer and co-owner David Gibson sent out both elimination winners of the Mid Summer Pacing Series for $7,500 claimers on Saturday night at Kawartha Downs

. Each event carried of purse of $5,600.

Trouball ($7.90) and driver Reg Gassien converted from the pocket to win the first elimination in 1:55 by a half-length over pacesetter and fan favourite Heza Promise. Longshot Dragoninthesky was third. Gibson co-owns the eight-year-old son of Presidential Ball-Sportin Around with Dr. James Zarowny of Campbellville, Ont. The win was the gelding's second in 10 seasonal starts.

Naked News ($9.90) and driver Fred Brethour journeyed first over to capture the second elimination in a career-best 1:54.2 by a neck over pocket-sitter Mach It Paid and the popular pacesetter, Jacobs Western. Gibson shares ownership of the eight-year-old son of Passailed-Santiago Sissi with Kenneth Andrews of Peterborough, Glenn Tarver of Scarborough and John Taylor of Cambridge, Ont. The win was this gelding's fourth in 21 starts this year.

The Mid Summer Series final will take place next Saturday, July 9.
