Driver Shane Forward sent Major Venue down the road to win the featured Preferred Handicap Pace in front of a large crowd at St. John's Racing and Entertainment Centre on 4H Club Day Sunday.

Major Venue paced the fastest mile of the day in 2:02.2 and provided Forward with his second win on the nine-race card. The son of Art Major won by nearly three lengths over stablemate Dusty Lane Zoe and trainer-driver Scott Forward while Dontbenervous and Terrence Williams finished third.

The win was Major Venue's second in three starts this year and 18th lifetime. The bay seven-year-old is owned by Carl Stafford, Conception Bay South, Nfld.

The next live program goes to post Sunday, August 5 at 2 p.m. and has been designated Gord Fleming Memorial Day at the track honouring the former owner, trainer and driver who passed away last summer shortly after winning the final race of the day. Proceeds from this day will go towards the Organ Donor Program.
