NYSS Invades Tioga Sunday

Tioga Downs welcomes three divisions of the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for two-year-old trotting fillies as well as two divisions for the two-year-old trotting colts and geldings on Sunday (July 16). 

Star Attraction (Ake Svanstedt) is the 2-1 morning line favourite in the $35,900 first division for fillies.  Svanstedt trains the filly by Chapter Seven-Selena G.  She finished second in her first career start at Saratoga. 

The John Butenschoen-trained R Melina (Tyler Buter) is the 7-2 second choice.  She is a two-year-old filly by Chapter Seven-Goodtogo Hanover.  She has a first and a third-place finish in two career starts. 

Sister Mary Maude (Joe Bongiorno) is the 8-5 morning line choice in the $35,900 second division.  The filly by Crazy Wow-Perfect Mass is trained by Ron Burke.  She has three wins in four starts including NYSS wins at Buffalo and Saratoga. 

Erin (Dan Daley) is coming off a second-place finish in a leg of the NYSS at Saratoga making her the 2-1 second choice.  Daley trains the filly by E L Titan-Blurred. 

Senorita Palema (Svanstedt) is the 3-2 choice in the $36.600 third division. She won her first career start in a leg of the NYSS at Saratoga in 1:57.  The filly by Chapter Seven-Tosca is trained by Svanstedt. 

Marcus Melander trains the 7-2 second choice Date Night Hanover (Brian Sears).  The filly by Chapter Seven-Dont Wait up is one for one with a NYSS win at Saratoga. 

Blantons Blue (Scott Zeron) was made the 3-1 morning line favourite in the $54,500 first division for two-year-old colts and geldings.  The gelding by Chapter Seven-Bills Lady is trained by Megan Scran. 

Svanstedt is trainer-driver for the 7-2 second morning line choice Situationship (Chapter Seven-Meegan Hall). 

The unbeaten Bargain (Andrew McCarthy) is the one to beat in the $55,500 second division for colts and geldings.  Nancy Takter trains the colt by Chapter Seven-Batoutahill.  He has a NYSS win at Yonkers (pictured above) as well as a Kindergarten Stakes win at The Meadowlands. 

Voss Blue Chip (Jordan Stratton) is the 4-1 second choice. Jared Bako trains the gelding by E L Titan-Angelita Hanover.  He is coming off a decent third-place finish at Buffalo. 

The 14-race card starts at 1 p.m.
