Say It Again Sam Does It Again

Say It Again Sam remains perfect with his seventh victory in a row after taking the Saturday feature at Red Shores at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Driver Jason Hughes mapped the winning trip opting to stalk pacesetter R Sonoflife (Michael McGuigan) through fractions of :28.3, :58.4 and 1:27.3 before overtaking the leader to win by two and half lengths to keep his streak intact. R Sonoflife faded to second with another Hughes trainee, Capitalism, finishing third for Kenny Arsenault.

The time of the mile was 1:56, a new record for Say It Again Sam, owned by Foxyhall Racing of Wallace, N.S.

Driver Gary Chappell had a big night at the office recording a hat-trick on the 12 dash program. Chappell opened up the card scoring with Shes Machs Delight for owners Bill and Brian Andrew and Tom Mullally. Shelly Hennessey was the winning trainer. Chappell also drove My Lucky Killean and Sa Summers Luck to victory to record the triple and close in on 2,500 career wins in the bike.

JK Queen, with Walter Cheverie in the bike, won the trot feature in 2:01.4 powering up the stretch to win in 2:01.4 for Joe Smallwood of Stratford, P.E.I. and Norman Clarey of Charlottetown. Cheverie also guided The Warden to a 1:59.2 score marking back to back winning performances for trainer Chris MacKay and his co-owner Wayne Court of New Glascow, P.E.I.
