Heavens Showgirl Matches Grand River Record

The seven-year-old pacing mare Heavens Showgirl A blazed the oval at Grand River Raceway on Wednesday night (June 15) to handily match the track record for aged pacing mares.

Driver Tyler Moore motored the Don Lindsey trainee to the point from post 7 and cruised at a speed of her own while the backfield tried to keep pace. She clicked splits of :27.1, :56 and 1:24.4 under no pressure. Rounding for home, Heavens Showgirl A then widened her lead and strode to the beam 3-1/4 lengths better than pocket-sitter Artistic Meadow to stop the clock in 1:53. The time equals the record set by Cousin Mary in Aug. 2018.

Lindsey co-owns Heavens Showgirl A and winner of 15 races from 52 starts and $141,116 with partners Paul Kleinpaste, William Alempijevic and Garth Bechtel. She returned $11.30 to win.
