Records Fall Again At St. Johns Raceway

For the second week-in-a-row, Quickcam lowered the track record for three-year-old pacing colts at St. Johns

Raceway in Newfoundland. This time, however, he wasn’t the only one to do it.

Quickcam, who toured the half-mile oval in a record-setting clocking of 2:06.2 one week ago, shaved two-fifths of a second off that mark when he stepped around the oval in 2:06 in his Sunday afternoon assignment.

The free-legged son of Quick Comeback-Cams Cakewalk held on to win by three-quarters of a length for owner/trainer/driver Aubrey Williams of Goulds, NL. The pacer is 2-for-2 this season after going just 1-for-11 last year.

Just two races later, Dontbenervous turned in a 2:06 score of his own, and in doing so he matched the mark set earlier in the day before the ink had a chance to dry in the record book.

It was the second consecutive victory for the son of Quick Comeback-Stormy Sakra, who drew away to the four-length score for trainer/driver Terrence Williams. The pacer is 2-for-2 this season after putting together a 4-5-0 record in 10 trips during his freshman season. He is owned by Back River Stable of Goulds, NL.
