Hazeville took a new mark of 1:51.2 in winning the $14,400 pacing feature during a Kentucky Derby Day Saturday (May 6) card at Harrah’s Philadelphia.

Unraced at two and a New York Sire Stakes winner at three, Hazeville was ready to go in his second start of the 2023 season. Driver Simon Allard sent the Huntsville gelding straight to the lead and rattled off splits of :27.2, :56 and 1:23.3, then handled the last quarter challenge of Louie The Looper by a half a length.

Hazeville is owned by David Rovine Stable LLC, VIP Internet Stable LLC and Howard Taylor, and is being trained by Tom Fanning in his four-year-old campaign.

For the second straight day, driver Allard led the local drivers colony with three driving successes.

The week’s racing at Harrah’s Philadelphia closes Sunday with a 12:40 p.m. card, featuring a $20,000 Open Trot. Next week, the track will race Thursday and Friday at 12:25 p.m. and Sunday at 12:40 p.m. The following week, starting with May 17, Wednesday comes back to the live schedule as the track goes into its basic four-programs-per-week schedule.  Program pages for all Philly cards will be available on the Pennsylvania Harness Horsemen's Association's website.
