Mary Larrimore’s nine-year-old Beach Romeo gelding Believe This Bob was sharp at Tioga Downs on Monday, May 29. The bay went to the top early and cut the fractions before freezing the final clock in 1:51.3.
Aaron Byron was in the sulky behind the 41-time winner, and the duo lined up in Post 2 for Race 8, a $7,900 conditioned dash.
The Joe Skowyra trainee left the gate well, sliced the fractions in :27.2, :55.4 and 1:23, and cruised home with a :28.3 final panel. The margin of victory was one and three-quarter lengths.
Alaskan Seelster, driven by Jim Mettinis, was second, followed by Owosso Flash (Mike Simons) in third.
Believe This Bob returned $2.50 on a successful $2 win wager.
Tioga Downs returns to live racing this Friday (June 2) at 6:50 p.m.
