A total of 23 three-year-olds will compete Saturday in three $75,000 divisions of the Somebeachsomewhere at Mohawk Racetrack.
The majority of these sophomore pacers will receive their final tune-ups for the eliminations of the $1-million Pepsi North America Cup, set for Saturday June 7 with the final on June 14.
Among the colts entered on Saturday are six of the top 10 colts ranked in Trot's North America Cup Spring Book. The first division boasts multiple-sub-1:50 performer JK Endofanera (PP6, Brian Sears, 15-1 in Trot's Spring Book) and 2013 Breeders Crown champ Luck Be Withyou (PP7, Ron Pierce, 8-1 Spring Book)
The second division features The Diplomat winner Somewhere In L A (PP2, Steve Condren, not N.A. Cup-eligible) and the horse that last beat him, Somestarsomewhere (PP7, Brian Sears, 9-1 Spring Book)
After his first lifetime loss last weekend, Hes Watching (PP5, Jody Jamieson, 5-1 Spring Book) looks to atone for that loss against seven rivals, most notable 2013 Metro winner Boomboom Ballykeel (PP3, Sylvain Filion, 13-1 Spring Book) and 2013 OSS Super Final winner Bugger Bruiser (PP7, Anthony MacDonald, 16-1 Spring Book).
The Somebeachsomewhere divisions go off as races 3, 8 and 10 on Saturday with a first race post time of 7:25 p.m. The colt pacers share the Saturday spotlight with finals of the SBOA Stakes for fillies. The sophomore pacers go for $159,287 in Race 2, while the trotting lasses will compete for a $178,287 prize in Race 5.
