WEG Bans Horses Trained by Elliott, Pindur

Published: May 2, 2008 03:00 pm EDT

On April 29, the Ontario Racing Commission announced the immediate suspensions of trainers William Elliott and Evzen Pindur after blood samples from a horse in each of their stables tested positive for the drug darbepoetin-alfa (DPO), a potent long-lasting form of Erythropeietin (EPO).

The ORC suspended Mr. Pindur for 10 years and ordered a $40,000 fine. The ORC is continuing its investigation into Mr. Elliott.

As a result of these serious violations, Woodbine Entertainment Group is indefinitely refusing all entries of horses that were trained by either Mr. Elliott or Mr. Pindur.
