Some Mach Some Win went to the front and didn’t look back en route to a narrow triumph in Monday’s $7,350 Preferred 3 for horses and geldings at The Raceway at Western Fair District.

With Scott Coulter at the controls, Some Mach Some Win pushed away from the pole position and supplied the field with fractions of :28.3, :57.4 and 1:26.4 before using a :30-second final frame to win by a half-length margin over Major Wager in 1:56.4. Derby Dylan, who enjoyed a ground-saving trip throughout the mile, was third.

Ian Downey trains the six-year-old son of Mach Three-Town Jiffy for his wife, Susan Downey of St. George Brant, Ontario. The victory was the tenth of the season – and the 15th to date – for the career winner of $237,192.
