Dead Heat Drama; Meridian Magic Wins Debut

Barrett Jackson, under the command of Kenny Arsenault, and Rich Raider, with Mark Bradley in the bike, hit the finish line together in a dead-heat for win

in Thursday night racing action at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park. The time of the mile was 1:58.3.

Barrett Jackson, owned and trained by Neal Moase of Cornwall, was fronting the field when Pans O Silver and Brodie MacPhee took over the lead briefly at the head of the lane. Bradley unleashed Rich Raider up the passing lane on the inside to secure the rare dead-heat win for owner-trainer Tyler Desroches of Summerside. Pans O Silver was third for Brodie MacPhee.

Arsenault also guided Meridian Magic to victory in the Open Mares pace for his fourth winner of the night. The winning horse is owned by Barry Martin and Jim Gillis of Sydney, N.S.

Gary Chappell recorded a driving triple during the 12 race program.
