Off nearly three months, Magic Starlight returned to the races with a flourish as she overpowered a fine field to capture Tuesday’s $18,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Pace at the Meadows.

Magic Starlight, who last raced February 15 at the Meadowlands Racetrack, relished her return to the home base of trainer Ron Burke.

Magic Starlight vaulted to the lead for Dave Palone in a swift :26.2 and had plenty to fend off the first-over challenge of The Face Of Love and defeat her by a length in 1:52.1. Ali Rush rallied for show.

Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Phillip Collura own Magic Starlight, a four-year-old daughter of Real Desire-Starlight Justice who now boasts $116,068 in career earnings.
