RT Sun Poco outdueled Chilitodayhotamale in the stretch to capture her second straight victory in Monday’s $18,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Trot.
Aaron Merriman sent RT Sun Poco first over after Chilitodayhotamale, who had led from the start. When Paulette Revere couldn't keep up in the pocket, Merriman guided RT Sun Poco back to the pylons for a key breather. That was the edge she needed, as she sped through the Lightning Lane to down Chilitodayhotamale in 1:55. Paulette Revere saved show.
Robert Rougeaux III trains RT Sun Poco, a seven-year-old daughter of Yankee Paco-Sunfest who extended her career bankroll to $226,396, for Brocious Racing Stable.
