Red Star Zoro made a backstretch brush to take over command and demolish the field of five in the $32,500 B.C. Stallion Stakes final for four-year-old pacers to earn his second stakes title of the season on Saturday

afternoon at Fraser Downs.

Nobody Can (Ed Hensley) won an early tussle for the lead, taking over command from Hezadilly (Gord Abbott) past the :27.2 opening quarter and reaching the next marker in :57.1. At that point, Red Star Zoro stormed to the top from fourth with trainer and co-owner Serge Masse at the controls. The popular son of Village Jiffy-Bring A Smile opened up two lengths on the field as he raced past three-quarters in 1:26, and kept on rolling. He extended his lead to five and a half lengths by the time he hit in the wire in 1:55.2. Erik Neyhart trainees Tahuya Clem C (Jim Marino) and Tahuya Artic Cam (Keith Clark) came on for second and third.

Masse shares ownership of the winning gelding with Jarm Investments Ltd. of Beaumont, Alta. Red Star Zoro, who also won the B.C. Prince Stakes on March 13, has put together a record reading 4-4-2 in 12 seasonal starts. He has earned $52,371 of his $66,521 career bankroll in 2011.

Red Star Zoro paid $3.20 to win as the 3-5 favourite.
