Odds-on favourite Cousin Mary moved to the top from the pylon post and bested the quintet in the $10,500 Fillies and Mares Preferred 2 Pace at Flamboro Downs on Saturday, April 6, winning in 1:54.4.

Cousin Mary cruised to the lead while Phoos Girl, from post five, swept into the pocket heading to a :27.4 opening quarter. Cenalta Call Girl, sitting third, tipped first over pacing past a :57.3 half and ranged towards the pacesetter with Thrillonthebeach in tow towards a 1:26 third quarter. Cousin Mary cruised into the stretch while Thrillonthebeach fanned off cover to take second from Cenalta Call Girl settling for third.

A six-year-old mare by Camluck, Cousin Mary won her second race in 10 starts this season and her 23rd in 79 overall, earning $292,001. Jeffrey Williamson owns and trains the $2.70 while J Harris sat in the sulky.

In the next race Village Jamie replicated Cousin Mary's tactics and wired her competition from the rail post in the $8,500 Fillies and Mares Preferred 3 Pace.

The five-year-old Mach Three mare led Now And Again to a :29 opening quarter but soon faced first-over pressure from Tilikum heading to the half. Past the midpoint in :58.4, Village Jamie quickened on the point as Tilikum dug deeper into the leader towards a 1:26.4 third quarter before stalling around the final turn. Village Jamie strolled through the stretch to win by one-and-a-quarter lengths over Now And Again while Tilikum took third.

Owned by Gary Wallace, Village Jamie won her second race in 12 starts this season and her ninth in 79 overall, earning $132,312. Todd Clements conditions the $2.80 winner and Paul MacKenzie drove.
