Post-five starter Ride Away Shark shot to the front of a six-horse field and led at every station to win the $8,500 Fillies and Mares Preferred 3 Pace at The Raceway at Western Fair District on Tuesday, April 2.

Driver Travis Henry placed the seven-year-old Classic Card Shark mare on the point heading to a :28.4 opening quarter. From there the Scott McNiven trainee experienced slight first-over pressure from Howmacfiesty through a :57.2 half and 1:26.3 third-quarter before kicking to a four-and-a-half length lead into the stretch that diminished to a two-length win in 1:56.2. Fading Shadow closed from fifth for second while Solid Queen rallied off a rail trip for third.

Owned by Kimberley McNiven and Thomas Brodhurst, Ride Away Shark won her third race from nine starts this season and her 26th from 154 overall, earning $343,985. She paid $4.40 to win.
