Maczaffair N went coast-to-coast in the Tuesday feature at Saratoga Casino Hotel. The Chris Dubois trainee recorded her second win in the local Fillies and Mares Open this year when she drew away in the stretch from pocket-sitting rival So Amazing.
Jimmy Devaux piloted Maczaffair N to the score in Tuesday’s $18,200 Open. The 10-year-old Mach Three mare was pressured early on in a first half that went in :56.3 but powered away in the stretch to score by 4-1/2 lengths in a mile clocked in 1:54.1. The victory was the fourth in seven starts in the 2023 season for the veteran distaffer.
So Amazing (Leon Bailey) finished second at odds of 10-1 while Maczaffair N’s co-favorite Alittlesidehustl N (Jay Randall) came on to finish third. Maczaffair paid $6.20 to win and led an exacta and triple that came back $43.20 and $189, respectively.
Live harness racing resumes on Saturday evening with a first post time set for 5 p.m.
