I Choose You and driver Marc St. Louis Jr. were pocket winners in the Northville Downs’ featured $10,800 Mares Open Pace on Friday night (April 14).
I Choose You followed early pacesetter Eloquent Velocity off the car and settled for the pocket ride until the head of the stretch when she dove to the lightning lane to go on to win in a final clocking of 1:55.3 by three-quarters of a length over the aforementioned Eloquent Velocity, who was a stubborn second.
The win marked the 17th career victory for I Choose You. The eight-year-old So Surreal-Rodena mare is trained by Danielle St. Louis and owned by Dr. Joshua Tanis, who just celebrated a birthday three days prior.
Racing at The Ville resumes Saturday, April 15 at 7 p.m.
