Chester Hosts First Set Of Qualifiers

Nearly five months removed from racing action, Harrah's Chester Racetrack hosted its first pre-meet qualifying session Tuesday morning, with nine races

facing starter Norton Shoemaker.

Majestic Jackpot turned in the fastest effort of the day, responding nicely to mild encouragement by trainer-driver Brian Burton to complete a 1:53.2 mile over good going. Arctic Warrior, who is returning off a strong three-year-old season for trainer Sam Beegle, was more than four lengths back in second, recording a strong :27.4 last quarter in his own right.

Presidential Order turned in the most visually impressive performance, kicking three-wide cover on the final turn and pulling away by more than seven lengths in hand to John Wagner, winning his heat in 1:56 and completing the last quarter in :27.4.

Two more qualifying cards are scheduled before the April 23 opener at Chester, with trials slated for this Friday and next Tuesday. Horsemen should be advised that entries will be taken the day prior on both occasions.
