A victory in last week’s elimination was a maiden-breaking score for Misti Maiden, who returned to Woodbine Racetrack on Monday evening and minded her manners from start to finish en route to capturing the $60,000 final of the Celias Counsel Stakes

Jack Moiseyev mapped out the winning trip for the three-year-old Angus Hall-Meghans Misti miss, who is owned by Moiseyev, Joanne Colville and Joseph Myer’s The Mo N Jo Stable, Peter Goldberg, Murray Goldberg and Michael Seedman.

Momentous had Nuriev Dream parked at the quarter pole in :29.2 with Misti Maiden tucking into an early three hole. Nuriev Dream eventually cleared to the lead, but Misti Maiden popped off the pylons going into the backstretch and swiped away command from that longshot. Moiseyev rated his charge through panels of :59.4 and 1:30.1 before out-digging rivals to the wire while battling through a gale force wind in the stretch. A :31.1 final frame was good enough to earn Misti Maiden the 1-1/4 lengths tally in 2:01.2 over longshot Magical Paige. Savanah Dream took home the show dough.

It was the second lifetime victory in eight tries for the Frank Colville-trained Misti Maiden, who pushed her lifetime earnings to $44,080 with the win.
