In the qualifier following, Fly Eagle Fly went the fastest trotting mile on the morning with a wire-to-wire 1:57.4 stroll. Driver Nick Boyd rated the four-year-old son of European champion Bold Eagle through fractions of :28.4, :58.1 and 1:27.3 in progress to a two-and-a-quarter length win over Spun From Magic. Jeff Gillis conditions the trotter for owner Richard Gutnick.

Ali blazed over the cold track with a 19-length romp to post the fastest pacing mile of the session. Conditioned by Anita Ouellette, the six-year-old Dali gelding sped to the front and set a clip of :29, :57.1 and 1:25.3 to then wrap the mile with a :28.4 final quarter and stop the clock in 1:54.2. Whos Watching finished second with Tapestry another three lengths behind in third. Travis Henry drove the winner for owner Luc Ouellette Inc.
