Off a 10-week layoff, Phoenix Warrior N and Dan Rawlings roared wide through the lane to pull off a 14-1 upset in the $20,000 Preferred Pace Saturday, March 31 at The Meadows.

The eight-year-old Jeremes Jet-Never Walk Alone gelding was seventh when he launched his decisive move. Sitting nine lengths off the lead at the half, he then blew past the tiring leader, Lincolnjames, and held off Hypothetical by a neck to score in 1:52.3, with Dapper Dude third.

Scott Betts trains Phoenix Warrior N, who extended his career bankroll to $235,193, for Timothy Betts, Nicholas Catalano and Stephen Moss.
