Off the odds-on favourite, Sintra fired to the front around the final turn and coasted to a 1:50.4 score in the $34,000 Preferred Handicap Pace on Saturday (March 20) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Driver Jody Jamieson jetted Sintra from post 8 into fourth while Wheels On Fire flaunted his speed to lead the field by a :26.4 opening quarter. Wheels On Fire continued on the point uncontested to a :55.1 half as Jamieson readied to rev Sintra off the pegs and towards the pacesetter. With a far-turn blitz, Sintra drew to equal terms with Wheels On Fire by three-quarters in 1:23.2 and promptly downed that rival off the corner. Sintra scooted to a two-and-a-quarter length advantage as Nocturnal Bluechip rallied to snag second in a tight-knit pack, while pocket-sitter Rockme Rollme took third.

An eight-year-old gelding by Mach Three, Sintra won his 34th race from 81 starts, earning $1,380,467 for owners Michal Guerriero, Kelly Waxman, Nunzio Vena and Frank Cirillo. Anthony Beaton trains the $3.30 winner.
