Jonathan Drury at Woodbine Mohawk Park

Driver Jonathan Drury will be taking a few days to recuperate from the effects of a spill that occurred on Friday, March 8 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Drury was unseated in Friday's opener when his horse put in a couple steps as the pace eased up and was collided with from behind. While he did drive in one more race on the card and attempted a comeback on Saturday driving in a handful of races, Drury has opted to take some more time off to rest.

He was excused by the AGCO judges from his final two drives on Saturday as well as a drive scheduled for Monday night.

Drury told Trot Insider that he is still sore from landing on his lower back and hip when he was unseated during the accident.

"I thought I'd be ok to drive [Saturday night], but the pressure from the back of the seat pushing on the spot I landed was hurting too bad to keep going," said the career winner of 1,948 races. "I'm going to try and rest a bit the next few days and hopefully be good to go for Thursday."

Please join Standardbred Canada in wishing Drury a full and speedy recovery.
