Warrior Call Clicks In Preferred

Warrior Call had a two-race winning streak snapped one week ago in London, but it didn’t take him long to find his way back to victory lane.

The Gord McDonnell-trained Warrior Call slid into an early four-hole in Monday’s $7,500 Preferred 3 for horse and gelding pacers before making a first-over move on the way to the half. Mister X sped through first-half fractions of :28.1 and :59 before Warrior Call and driver Garrett Rooney worked their way to a short lead while racing parked to the three-quarter pole in 1:29.

From there, the gelding used a :30.3 closing panel over the sloppy oval to win by a length over Statesman N in 1:59.3. Taking home the show dough was the fast-closing Leafs And Wings.

The five-year-old son of Badlands Hanover-Armbro Blue is a 10-time winner to date, and his career earnings are just shy of $75,000. He is owned by McDonnell and partners Vince Orlando and Steve John.
