Rain Cloud Hanover converted off a pocket trip to win the $7,500 Preferred 3 Pace for fillies and mares, which closed out the Saturday night (Feb. 6) card of harness racing at Flamboro Downs.

Rain Cloud Hanover and driver Nick Steward settled for a pocket trip during the :27.3 first quarter and tracked the quick-leaving Miss Brandi K (Paul MacKenzie), who rebuffed a first over challenge from Woodmere Dancenart through subsequent panels of :58.1 and 1:27.4. However, Rain Cloud Hanover overtook Miss Brandi K at the top of the stretch and opened up two lengths down the lane for the 1:57.3 victory. Doo Wee Rusty (J Harris) came through along the pylons for second place over Miss Brandi K.

Robert Reid trains the five-year-old Art Major mare for owner Christopher Nicol of Waterdown, Ont.

Sent postward as the 4-1 second choice on the toteboard, Rain Cloud Hanover paid $10.50 to win. She is now two-for-two in 2016 after going winless in 15 starts last year. Saturday's victory was her eighth lifetime and pushed her bankroll over the $100,000 mark.
