Killean Cut Kid Wires Fraser Foes

Killean Cut Kid cut out all the fractions en route to his first win of the season in the $12,500 Open Pace featured on Friday night at Fraser Downs

Making his fourth start of the year, the six-year-old son of Mach Three-Winning Lin and driver Brandon Campbell left from Post 5 and cruised past stations of :27, :56.3 and 1:25.2 before stopping the clock in 1:53.4 over a track rated "good" and one second off. The Kelly Hoerdt trainee missed his mark by three-fifths of a second.

Tre Bien (Jim Marino) followed from the pocket to finish one and a half lengths behind in second. Finishing over nine lengths behind in third was Cowboy Hanover (David McKellar), who closed from ninth.

Killean Cut Kid paid $10.00 to win. Hoerdt co-owns the career winner of 18 races and over $112,000 with fellow Beaumont, Alta. resident Blair Corbeil.

The first leg of the BBS Mirage Claiming Series for fillies and mares was contested on Friday with a pair of $7,100 divisions going to Lil Kim in 1:57.4 for trainer-driver Ed Hensley and Lucks Pleasure in 1:57.3 for driver Jim Marino and trainer Justin Currie.
