Canaco Star captured the $9,000 Fillies and Mares Open Pace on Thursday (February 27) in Northfield Park’s third race.
Canaco Star (Yankee Cam-Dime A Minute-Life Sign) started from post four for driver Keith Kash, Jr. and sat the pocket through fractions of :28.1, :57.2, and 1:26.3. Kash tipped Canaco Star in the final quarter and bested the competition by ½-length in 1:56. Completing the race were Up Front Kellie Jo, Pertty Music, Crazy Luv Bug, Y Mach Me and Sweetheart Dance.
Thursday’s win was the 38th career victory for Canaco Star and increased her bankroll to $153,018. She is trained by Misty Carey for owners Michael Kessler of New Hartford, New York and Speed to Burn Racing Stable of Utica, New York. She returned $13.00 to win.
