Pikachu Hanover won the featured $24,000 conditioned trot on Monday (Feb. 19) evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park with a challenging journey to the finish.

James MacDonald and the Gregg McNair student landed sixth off the car and through the opening panel in :27.3. MacDonald pulled Pikachu Hanover to the outside en route to the half in :57, but the pair ended up seventh in the effort. Moving into sixth from the outside by the three-quarters, Pikachu Hanover began chipping away at the distance between himself and the leading Perfetto (Dagfin Henriksen). The McNair student made his way into third in the final turn and then sprinted down the stretch with a final panel in :27.3 to win by a length in 1:54.1 over Perfetto and Locatelli (Chris Christoforou).

High Stakes Stable Inc. owns the 10-year-old career winner of 38 races from 139 starts. The son of Andover Hall and the Donerail mare Playwood lifted his earnings to $608,389. Pikachu Hanover went to the gate as the 4-1 third choice, returning $10.10 to win.
