Good racehorses and well bred broodmares were in demand at the two-day Blooded Horse Sale
. Five out of the top nine horses sold were for racing and four were for breeding.
Upfront Ben from the Upfront Racing consignment topped the sale at $39,000. Tracy Brainard purchased the tough Andover Hall trotter to race at the Meadowlands along with pacer Adams Hanover from Burke Racing Stable LLC for $25,000. Upfront Racing was also the consignor for the ultra consistent pacing gelding Upfrontoutthedoor, purchased by Rene Allard of Quebec for $27,000.
Amateur driver Bud Hatfield signed the ticket for the competitive conditioned trotter Wolfs Jann for $22,000 from Burke Racing Stable’s strong consignment.
Mares with extreme speed pedigrees were definitely in demand. Maiden three-year-old Jolt Of Jo, out of a half-sister to Holborn Hanover p,5,1:46.4 $2,070,648, was purchased by Jim Rothfuss of Pennsylvania for $20,000. Consignor Emerald Highlands Farm also offered the beautiful gray Yankee Cruiser filly Powdered Donut that was purchased by Doug Hinklin for $15,200.
Camden Stud signed the ticket for million-dollar winner Electrical Art p,3,1:51, consigned by Robert McIntosh. The Artsplace mare, in foal to Camluck, goes to England on a $16,000 bid.
Bluebird Meadows of Indiana were quite pleased to get the nod on Day Lily Hanover p,3,1:53f ($158,008) at $16,000. The daughter of Art Major is out of a half-sister to The Panderosa.
Lady Pat, a half-sister to Canada’s leading trotting sire Kadabra, was purchased by another Indiana breeder Jake Schwartz for $16,000.
