Not even Post 10 could keep Aisling and driver Mark MacDonald from finding their way to the winner’s circle in the $30,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine. The seven-year-old son of Conway Hall, who was purchased from the mixed portion of last year’s Harrisburg Sale by Steve Calhoun and West Wins Stable, battled Rose Run Hooligan to the quarter pole in :27.4 before working his way to the top and laying down middle panels of :56.4 and 1:26.

The gelding was confronted in the late stages of the mile by Rose Run Hooligan, but he turned aside that one’s bid en route to posting the win by three-quarters of a length in 1:55.1. Rose Run Hooligan was second, with third prize going to Celebrity Cowboy.

Aisling, who is 2-for-5 this season for trainer Casie Coleman, is now an 18-time winner with purse earnings in excess of $256,909.

Just two races later, Emerald Lexus extended his winning streak to seven-in-a-row thanks to a front-stepping triumph versus conditioned foes in a career-best clocking of 1:52.3. The five-year-old son of Astreos-Aloha Marie parked past the quarter pole in :27.2 before working to the lead and supplying middle splits of :56.3 and 1:25 for driver Chris Christoforou. The gelding used a :27.3 final quarter to hold on for the neck decision over Web Cam, with Casimir Jitterbug a distant third.

Bred, owned and trained by Charalambos Christoforou of Campbellville, ON, Emerald Lexus is a perfect 5-for-5 this season after going 2-for-2 last year. His 7-for-9 record has earned him purse earnings in excess of $65,000.
