Party News, one of the top pacing mares on the western New York circuit, passed away on December 6

.

The mare came to western New York in 2007 after being purchased at the Delaware sale by the Ultra Racing stable of Buffalo.

Party News, a daughter of Party At Artsplace out of the Niatross mare Youre In The News, made 90 starts in her career sporting a 24-17-17 record with lifetime earnings of $132,558. She took her 1:54.3 lifetime mark at Balmoral Park as a three-year-old.

She won three of her last five starts, including a pair of Filly and Mare Open Handicap wins. Her 2009 earnings were over $55,000.

“It’s hard to replace a mare like her, she was really good to us, she tried hard every week and as an owner that’s all you can ask for,” Anthony Barone, managing partner of the Ultra Racing Stable, said.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the connections of Party News.
