For the third straight year, driver Sherwin Edwards topped all Canadians in the CKG Billings Amateur Series and he's hoping to increase awareness in amateur racing through the creation of a national amateur driving club

.

Edwards has raced across North America in the Billings Series and even made his way overseas to compete in and win an international amateur driving tournament hosted by the Italian National Amateur Drivers Association in July. That win garnered Edwards an invitation to the 2012 World Cup of Amateur Drivers in New Zealand.

After racing in the CKG Billings Series since 2009, Edwards has decided to dedicate his time and energy in creating a Canadian club with the focus and objective of promoting from within the Canadian harness racing community as well as promoting our sport to the general public and also on the international Stage. Noting the lack of a formal national club in Canada for many years, Edwards states that he now makes this project his mission.

Edwards plans to create a non-profit organization named after harness racing legend Bill O'Donnell. The William O'Donnell Mentorship Program and National Driving League of Canada will aim to showcase up-and-coming drivers as well as seasoned amateur veterans.

More plans on this project will be released as they become available.
