A new movie based in the world of horse racing and directed by Canadian Christian Duguay was released in theatres in France and Canada on Wednesday, Dec. 21.

The movie Tempête (also known as Ride Above), which was filmed over 10 weeks in Normandy and the Ile-de-France region, tells the story of a teenage girl raised in the world of horse racing who forges a bond with a young filly and rises above the challenges of a tragic accident that threatens to end their careers.

The drama stars actress Carmen Kassovitz as 17-year-old Zoé along with Mélanie Laurent and Pio Marmaï as her parents. The crew reportedly included trot and dressage specialists, including former renowned trainer and driver Pierre Levesque and Mario Luraschi, as advisors.
