After getting away last in the compact feature field, Roll Em was first-over and driving to the winner's circle on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 17 in his return to Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Following a brief stint in Ontario, driver Marc Campbell was at the controls of favourite Roll Em for his 1:53.4 victory in the $3,800 Preferred Pace over a track rated one second off for co-owner and trainer Brent Campbell and co-owners Brady Doyle, Ryan MacLeod and Savage Stable. It was win number 28 lifetime for the five-year-old Time To Roll gelding and his 10th victory of the season in 21 starts. Pacesetter No Plan Intended (Jason Hughes) was second by half a length to have his win streak snapped at three straight while Middleton Terror (David Dowling) was third.

Marc Campbell had three wins on the day to bring his lead in the driving standings to 11 races over Hughes. The Orwell, P.E.I. driver also won with Poplar Artie (1:56.4) for trainer Lenny Myers and Rollwithhottytoddy (1:54.2) from the Trevor Hicken barn.

Dropping from the top Preferred tier, Fern Hill General went wire-to-wire in the $3,450 Preferred 2 class on Sunday, prevailing by a neck in 1:57.1 over favoured Laughagain Hanover (Hughes) and last week's winner Mantario (Dowling). Brodie MacPhee drove the victorious four-year-old Malicious gelding for trainer Tom Weatherbie and owners Peter Smith and Gerald Morrissey.

Trainer Dwane MacEachern doubled up on the day with Doc Awesome (Corey MacPherson) in 1:58.2 and Azure Beach (Ken Murphy) in a 2:00 clocking.

Driver Adam Merner and trainer Gordie Hennessey teamed up for two wins as Check Your Source was a 1:57.4 winner  and Tradition scored in 1:57.1. Merner also won the first race of the day with the Melissa Rennie-trained Kataparka in 1:58.2 for the driving triple.

The Red Shores Stuff the Starting Gate for Ocean 100 Toys For Tots campaign wrapped up on Sunday. Customers and members of the harness racing community dropped off toys over the last two racing events to support the annual fundraiser.

Live harness racing continues on Saturday Dec. 23 at 12:30 p.m., at Red Shores Charlottetown.
