Sent the odds-on favourite, trainer-driver Rod Therres secured control with Buddy Weiser and strolled to a two-and-a-half length victory in the $12,000 Open Pace on Sunday, Dec. 16 at Fraser Downs.

The six-year-old Western Ideal gelding slid past rail-starter Life On Homicide to lead the field by a :28 first quarter. With no challenge for the top, Buddy Weiser slowed to the half in :58 while Three More Smiles, tracking the top two, angled off the rail moving for the backstretch.

Buddy Weiser continued to own a length-and-a-half lead as Three More Smiles inched closer first over passing a 1:26.3 third quarter. He extended his margin through the lane as Three More Smiles held second from Gotta Have Nukes sliding into contention for third.

Owned by Veikko Pajunen, Buddy Weiser won his sixth race from 19 starts this season and his 25th from 71 overall, earning $205,853. He returned $3.90 to win.
