Rallying from off the pace, 3-2 favourite Nower Power won the single $6,000 dash for the opening preliminary of the Alliance Claiming Series, for $15,000 conditioned-claiming trotters, at Flamboro Downs in 2:00.2 on Saturday, December 16.

Starting from the rail, Nower Power sat seventh through a :29.3 opening quarter set by Sweet Kimmy, who withstood first-over pressure from Massmade through a 1:00.3 half and three-quarters in 1:29.4. Moving into the final turn, Nower Power edged off the rail and began to circle around rivals, coming within two lengths of leader Sweet Kimmy into the stretch and sliding to the lead approaching the line, holding a half-length advantage over a passing-lane challenge from Keepall in second, and Sweet Kimmy faded to third.

A three-year-old gelding by Power Play out of the Garland Lobell mare Nowerland G Girl, Nower Power, owned by Thestable Power Group, won his sixth race in 31 starts this season and in 43 starts overall, earning $26,107. Trained by Amy MacDonald and driven by Anthony MacDonald, he paid $5.00 to win.
