Nova Artist made a big move at the three-quarters to take command in the $30,000 Preferred/Open pace while Dancin Yankee closed strongly to win the $30,000 Delaware Special at Dover Downs on Monday

.

After just missing by a neck in last week’s Delaware Special, Allan Davis sent Eddie and Kathy Davis’ Nova Artist past battling leaders Highbeam Rusty N (Matt Kakaley) and Cams Art (Dave Miller) heading to the far turn and the Real Artist-Avon Lady four-year-old quickly opened up a four-length lead on the way to a 1:50.1 career-best clocking in the Preferred/Open. Kiss My Art (Cory Callahan) came on between horses to finish second in front of Eagle All (Ross Wolfenden). Highland Rusty finished fourth.

Nova Artist, trained by Martin Davis, won for the seventh time this year advancing his seasonal earnings to $151,715 and $433,947 lifetime.

Dave Miller guided Dancin Yankee to a 1:51.4 score in the $30,000 Preferred/Open. Trained by meet leader Josh Green, the Bob Briley and Baron Racing Stable’s colt, the only three-year-old in the race, won for the second straight week. Thats Justice (Matt Kakaley) was runner-up. Schoolkids (Pat Berry) was the show horse.
