A pair of series finals plus another leg of the Xtreme Sprint Series went behind the starting gate at Kawartha Downs on Tuesday afternoon

Ragnar Hagen and Bjorn Skabo’s Adrion Dream cruised to a 5-1/2 length score in the $17,500 final of the Last Dash For Cash Trotting Series. Gord Brown engineered the wire-to-wire tally with the Per Henriksen-trained son of Daguet Rapide. The three-year-old colt, who was let go at odds of 11-1, supplied splits of :29.1, :58.1 and 1:28.1 before stepping home in :29.3 for the 1:57.4 decision. Amigo Loco (James MacDonald) was second best and race favourite Sir Laurence (Aaron Byron) was third.

The victory was the second of the season and the fourth lifetime tally for the trotter, who bumped his overall bankroll to $43,140 in the process.

Reg Gassien took a totally different approach when he swept from last-to-first with Millershighlites in the $12,300 final of the Just For The Girls Series. The three-year-old Arturo filly picked off rivals one-by-one in the final half of the nine-gal affair, and her :29-second final quarter speed was just enough to earn her the neck decision in a time of 1:55.1. Race favourite Gracie Montana (John MacDonald) was next best, with G G Delight (Gord Brown) taking home the show dough.

Stephen Gassien of Peterborough, ON owns and trains the filly who is now 5-for-22 this season. The lion’s share of the purse boosted her cash stash to $26,608.

The Tuesday program at the Fraserville, ON oval also featured another leg of the Xtreme Sprint Series, in which a group of seven went pedal-to-the-metal for five-eighths of a mile for a purse of $7,000.

Trainer/driver Isaac Waxman went down the road with Linatawa N in 1:09.4. The eight-year-old daughter of Holmes Hanover drew away to win by 2-3/4 lengths over C F O (John MacDonald), with Keystone Nite Hawk (Billy Davis, Jr.) another two lengths back in third.

Sent off as the 4-5 favourite, Linatawa N improved her 2010 record to 10-6-7 from 37 trips postward. The 26-time winner has banked $176,572 to date.
