Three-year-old trotting gelding Marquis Volo pushed his win streak to five in a row with a seven-length romp on Friday night at Woodbine Racetrack.

The 1-5 favourite in the $18,000 trot for non-winners of two races or $51,500 lifetime, Marquis Volo ($2.50) and driver Randy Waples assumed command after the :27.4 first quarter and led the field through middle splits of :58 and 1:27.2. The son of Credit Winner then sped away from his foes, trotting home in :28.2 for the open-length victory in 1:55.4. Yankee Puzzle finished second and Tarot was third.

A $180,000 yearling purchase at the 2013 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale, Marquis Volo went unraced as a two-year-old and now has five wins in seven starts since joining the Per Henriksen stable this summer. His win streak began on Aug. 30 at Georgian Downs and includes four in a row at the Woodbine meet following a month-long hiatus in September.

Marquis Volo is owned by Jeff Gillis, Gerald Stay, Mac Nichol, Jan Larsen and Big Als Stables Inc.
