Stars To Shine In PEI

The stars are going to be out in full force this weekend at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The racetrack will host six divisions of the Island Breeders Championship finals during an action packed 13-dash card totaling $77,300 in purse money. Post time is 1 p.m.

Meridian Magic, who has won her last nine starts, has a chance to win the Triple Crown honours when she takes on seven other rivals in the $13,000 two-year-old filly final in race 6. Kenny Arsenault will handle the daughter of Largo who has banked $70,512 in her first year of racing for owners Barry Martin and James Gillis, Sydney, NS.

Scarlet Patti, owned by Gordon MacLean of Winsloe, PE, and Allbentouttashape, a member of the Dooley Boys Racing Stable of Halifax, NS, could also add Triple Crown honours to their resumes.

Red Shores at Summerside features a 13-dash program on Sunday. Post time is 1 p.m. The afternoon features the Isabelle and Ivan Cameron Memorial. Track announcer Vance Cameron will call the action in his parents’ memorial in race 11 scheduled for post at 3:50 p.m.

In Blue, listed as the morning line favourite, has drawn the rail in the event for driver Brian Andrew. Boldrooster Two, a recent starter in the Joe O’Brien gold division, is also a threat from the outside post for driver Earl Smith and owner Fred Paynter.
