Red Star Hottie charged through the Lightning Lane at The Meadows to capture Friday’s $22,500 Filly & Mare Not Listed Preferred/Preferred Handicap Pace.
Away second behind the streaking Mud Pie Hanover, who was seeking the fifth win in her last six starts, Red Star Hottie brushed late for Dave Palone and scored in 1:53.1, defeating the game Mud Pie Hanover by a length. Tremor Hanover rallied for show.
Ron Burke trains Red Star Hottie, a six-year-old daughter of As Promised-Whitehorse Fever who now boasts a lifetime bankroll of $519,865, for Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.
Palone drove five winners — three for Burke — on the 13-race card.
Live racing resumes Saturday at The Meadows with a special make-up program beginning at 6:55 p.m.
